Places To Visit In Portsmouth

Further along the seafront at Albert Road you'll find Blue Reef Aquarium, which has something for everyone from touching reef creatures in their interactive displays to snorkelling with sharks which is available during school holidays if you fancy bra. Portsmouth is a great place to visit in the summer, beautiful blue skies and sandy beaches! The Southsea seafront is a great place to explore during the warmer months with an array of outdoor activities to try out.

There are plenty of fish and chips shops (I suggest fish and ice cream although it's not that cold in Portsmouth!) selling fresh produce directly from their boats. For entertainment there is always something going on, from family funfairs to live outdoor theatre. This harbourside town has a fabulous seafront, which has been transformed into a fun fair and large open green spaces perfect for the whole family. Southsea Castle, has underground passages which you can explore, or if you're feeling brave the Blue Reef Aquarium features a host of lively marine life from across the globe.

If you're feeling peckish then Southsea offers some lovely eateries to stop off at along the seafront. Portsmouth is one of the largest cities in England and sits on Britain’s south coast just over 14 miles from the sea itself. With over 100 parks and various nature reserves, there are plenty of places ideal for families to spend an afternoon together. The Victorian seafront at Southsea has a funfair and swimming complex, and the large open green spaces are perfect for lazy picnics, gentle strolls and kite flying.

Southsea is steeped in history, and it’s no wonder that Lord Horatio Nelson was born here. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is well worth a visit with its extensive displays on the Battle of Trafalgar and the Royal Navy. History has been made at the Dockyard ever since 1494 when Henry VII founded the first dry dock – you can even go for a tour of Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory. Portsmouth is a fantastic place to visit all year round.
